Hey, I've commented that the momentum started with the Dean campaign is still vital, and lots of people are getting together to help fix our political processes.
tomorrow, there's a meeting of the people behind this in San Francisco, just a neighborhood thing, but a great example of what needs to happen more.
here's more, from them:
Just a reminder that the organization formerly known as San Francisco for Dean will be gathering this Saturday to finalize the mission and bylaws of our new organization. Please join us!
1:00 – 5:00 at the Park branch of the SF library, 1833 Page St. at Shrader.
Parking is tough in this area but there are many public transportation options.
If you can't make it at this time, but would still like to provide your input, we have set up some interactive documents on the web for just that purpose. Please go to http://sf4dean.com and then click on the "HTML" version of
either the Draft synthesis mission statement or Bylaws outline.
And a note on our new name – at the April 7th meetup, the overwhelming favorite chosen was "Democracy for America – San Francisco"; a clear second was "San Francisco for Democracy". Unfortunately, it seems there may be too many legal complications (such as a requirement for joint FEC filing) to using the name of an already-registered PAC (Democracy for America). So our name is still a little bit up in the air; we'll get as much info as we can in the coming days and present everything we know on Saturday.
Hope to see you Saturday!
