Rally for Women's Lives: A Bay Area pro-choice rally for women's rights in solidarity with the March for Women's Lives in Washington DC. Saturday, April 24th, 12-4 PM, Dolores Park (19th and Dolores) San Francisco
On April 25th, people from across the world will converge on Washington DC to March for Women's Lives. 31 years after women won the right to safe, legal, abortion, the anti-choice Bush Administration and anti-choice members of Congress have passed the first ever federal ban on abortion, as well as legislation that grants fetuses unprecedented legal status.
Without the ability to plan when and how often to have children, women are prevented from participating fully in society. But this March isn't just about reproductive rights. It's about women being full and equal members of society with all the rights and privileges enjoyed by men. Unless we act now, the hard won gains of the last thirty years will slip away.
Unfortunately, not everyone has the time or the money to go to DC. A group of local high school students, frustrated at the lack of local events being organized, decided to organize a rally in solidarity with the March for April 24th in San Francisco. The event is focused on empowering and educating youth to know their rights and how to protect them so that they
can continue fighting for women's rights.
There will be speakers, information tables, activities, Food Not Bombs, performers, and more. If you have any questions, or would like to set up a table, please email:
