www.40WildYears.org – Celebrate the Wilderness Act's 40th B-day
hey, these guys are for real, please take a look.
The Wilderness Act that has protected so many of our most beautiful places will turn 40 years old this Friday, Sept 3rd. The folks at The Wilderness Society are running a campaign called www.40WildYears.org to celebrate the occasion. Unfortunately this Republican controlled Congress is only the second one in 40 years to NOT designate any new wilderness areas.
You can help protect our beautiful, unique and endangered lands by signing a petition asking Congress to designate endangered areas including Utah's Redrocks, the Arctic Coastal Plain, and beloved areas in Washington, West Virginia, Vermont, Virginia and Montana as WILDERNESS which will protect them from the development, logging, oil and natural gas drilling that currently threaten them. Visit their site to add your signature.
The Wilderness Society is also asking people to share their own stories of the wilderness and their favorite wild places with the intention of compiling them into a book/report to distribute to Congress to help remind them that this is more than just a political issue.
