Hey, I think it's important that we support moderation and arts in many forms. (if you look below, you'll see similar endorsements for this and the Jewish Film Festival.) this does sound really cool:

Cinemayaat, The Arab Film Festival (WWW.AFF.ORG ) was created in 1996 to
showcase independent filmmakers working with Arab themes, to strengthen the
Arab community identity through the arts, explore the nature of ethnic
prejudice, and to provide a forum for Arab Americans to engage in dialogue
with other communities. The movies shown during the festival provide
insightful and innovative perspectives on Arab people, culture, art, history
and politics.

In 2004 the festival will run from October 2nd through October 24th in San
Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. This year, for the first time ever, the
Arab Film Festival, in conjunction with the Arab Cultural and Community
Center-ACCC will host a joint party at Club NV in San Francisco on September
16th.

The purpose of the event is to provide a venue for the Arab community
and all people interested in Arab culture to meet, have socialize and build
a stronger community and to promote the Arab Film Festival and the programs
of the Arab Cultural & Community Center. During the event, attendees will
have the opportunity to socialize, dance and visit stations that provide a
taste of the Arab world. The stations will feature Arabic food and
desserts, and a Hooka lounge just to name a few. Attendees will also be
able to learn the Dabkeh, a traditional Arab line dance. TICKETS ARE
