Pete Hamill on citizen journalism around 1750

Hey, I just finished an exceptional novel, something of a love story to New York, by the long-time reporter Pete Hamill, Forever. He reminds us that modern journalism derives from citizen journalism. He mentions its power then, dealing with slavery, and how much we need it today.

"There are some dreadful people in the world… They must be fought. They must be beaten back, caged, prevented from spreading their misery. Your Earl of Warren is one of them. There are many others."
"And what can be done about them?"
"Plenty."
"Such as?"
"Such as destroying them."
He turned to the printing press.
"With that."
