Well, the 'net is much more of a level playing field than conventional media, giving little guys a chance to succeed. That helped not only craigslist be successful, but for that matter, Yahoo and eBay.
However, the big telecom companies figure they can make more money if they grant themselves and partners special privileges, simultaneously discriminating against others. There's a bill coming up that would allow this.
They claim that they won't do this, but, well, I talk to people at big telecoms a lot, and they tell me that we can't trust that. Remember every time that they commit to getting a guy to your home to fix a problem, and the guy doesn't show, and they consider it okay.
