Stewart/Colbert writers need exemption from the writers' strike

If you want to tell people the truth, make 'em laugh; otherwise, they'll kill you.

That's my favorite Oscar Wilde quote. It remind us that if you want to deliver news people don't want to hear, a comic delivery is most effective.

The most effective news delivery these days, to many people, are The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.

Without commenting on the writers' strike… we need these guys to keep producing.

Hey, if they do strike, and you hear about them writing online, let me know about it. We gotta keep the faith.

CLARIFICATION: note the word "exemption".

If you like what they do – support their strike. In fact even if you didn't like what they do you should support their strike. Because it is solidarity with working people (yes writers are working people) that keeps us all being driven into poverty. If Stewart and Colbert should run shows on why supporting the writer's strike is so important – and imho they should make them as unfunny as possible so as not to be crossing the picket line!

My name is Ronald Uno and I represent http://www.ovahere.com – a proven San Francisco city guide for young professionals. I'm sorry for contacting you this way, but I had no other avenue.
Ovahere has been in operation of almost 3 years and we’ve reached the point where we need to sink or swim.
Because of family obligations, the partners of Ovahere have to move out of San Francisco and so we have also been exploring options for the buy-out of Ovahere.com.
We realize that funding from a VC is a longshot – given our one-city guide and lack of innovative technology. However we do possess valuable institutional knowledge on how to run a local city guide effectively and monetize it immediately – which can be used in other cities rather than starting from scratch. This is why we are actively pursuing a low cost buy-out.
I appreciate any thoughts you may have and if you have any questions, please email or call me. Thank you for your time, we realize you are very busy and hopefully you were at least entertained when viewing our website – http://www.ovahere.com .
Sincerely,
Ronald Uno

I was surprised at the candidness Jon Stewart displayed in supporting the writers on his last show – seems like the Comedy Central would not have allowed that kind of thing.
It makes me an even bigger fan of him and the show… Come to think of it, maybe THAT's why the network let him get away with it – to ingratiate JS even further with his fans.

If the most effective news delivery these days to many people are The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, this country is in much more serious trouble than I thought.
