PeaceWorks/One Voice gets Skoll Foundation grant

Hey, One Voice is a group of Palestinians and Israelis, media and government people, trying to get their governments to cut a deal. They have a lot of traction, having signed up over a few hundred thousand people on both sides who want to compromise.

The Skoll Foundation does a lot of great work, and just announced an award for this important group:

The Skoll Foundation today announced Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship for 11 organizations working around the world in the areas of tolerance and human rights, health, environmental sustainability, peace and security, and economic and social equity. The recipients, who will each receive three-year grants of $1,000,000, join a growing global network of Skoll social entrepreneurs, now numbering 59, who have created innovative, proven solutions for tackling the world’s most urgent social and economic challenges.

Disclaimer: because of the importance of their work, I joined the One Voice advisory board.

… and almost done, but found that Skoll also provided additional funding for Kiva a really good microfiance group. I'm working with them and CHF International to start my own personal Marshall Plan for the West Bank. (Paperwork done in a coupla weeks folks?)

A Marshall Plan for the West Bank — long overdue, and something that would bring about more progress than all the guns and bombs in the world.
Hope you'll let us know when us nobodies — regular folks who support a just peace — can make a contribution toward this effort.
