First Ever Guide to Great Local Nonprofits – See What a $50 donation or How 2 Hours Volunteering Can Help
The economic downturn is hitting Bay Area nonprofits hard. Organizations are faced with cutting programs and services at the same time when more people are turning to them for help.

How can you help? If you've got $50 or 2 hours to volunteer, check out the Great*Guide (www.greatguide.org), shows you how you can make a difference at over 100 local nonprofits. Some examples:

Meals on Wheels:
$50 could: fund 10 meals delivered to a homebound senior. In 2 hours: help with errands, do home repairs, or simply provide company and companionship for a homebound senior.

Larkin Street Youth Services:
$50 could: provide one homeless kid with a warm bed and meal for a night. In 2 hours: serve and cook a meal, give kids on the street a "survival kit" with toothbrush and soap, or run a tutoring session.
