OpenSecrets.org is going OpenData next week

Hey, a heads-up regarding a new step in political transparency: the money-in-politics site OpenSecrets.org is set to become EvenMoreOpenSecrets next week when its producer, the Center for Responsive Politics, goes "open data." The nonpartisan watchdog group's huge archive of federal campaign finance and lobbying data — going back 20 years in some cases — will become freely downloadable for non-commercial use. The good folks at the Sunlight Foundation, (disclosure: I'm on the board) are underwriting this transparency initiative. Data-divers, look for the launch early next week on OpenSecrets.org and, as CRP says, "count cash to make change."
