Depends on who is living in your forest.
If you're starting something new, I would say a clever social media stragegy is useful because lots of people spend time on social networks.
If you're already established in business, then the question will be what value does your "social network strategy" add for users.
It's kind of like special effects in movies. If they are done well AND are a well crafted part of the story, you get somehthing great. But if they are gratuitous or don't drive the story they are not going to help a bad movie.

you doomed any comments made by your question. if a tree falls in a forest and if no one is there to listen, does it make it sound? Yep, welcome to social media. I agree somewhat with the comment above except that social media was designed for different purposes. intergreating two ideas often does not pose as real and real is what is and what is believed. sound is pentrated off the ear drum–if no ear drum is present, according to science, it can not be heard. i highly disagree. i am not kant, but a sound is a sound is a sound. i don't give my ear drum that signifance…what i hear, i hear. what i don't does not constite no sound. I hear sound when all i pray is silence–therefore, it can not be tht easy.
