Hey, the IAVA has had  a lot of success supporting veterans, like helping pass and fix the GI Bill, and get back pay for stop-lossed veterans.

For Veterans Day, they're having what looks like a great event:

Please join us for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America’s (IAVA) Fourth Annual Heroes Gala on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in New York City. The evening supports IAVA, the nation’s first and largest nonprofit, nonpartisan group representing the troops and veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The dinner, held at Gotham Hall in New York City, is the premiere Veterans Day event in New York City and coincides with IAVA’s extensive Veterans Week activities nationwide. NBC Nightly News Anchor and Managing Editor Brian Williams will serve as Master of Ceremonies, with help from CBS Sports Analyst and legendary Super Bowl-winning Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Bill Cowher, as we pay tribute to the over two million men and women who have bravely served our country in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Benefit Committee members include Milo Ventimiglia, Sebastian Junger and many others; for more information or to purchase tickets, please visit http://iavaheroesgala.org/.

Disclaimer: I'm on the IAVA board, and am part of the host committee for this event.
