Hey, you’ve seen that DonorsChoose.org is about helping teachers fund classroom projects, kinda microfinance style, in small and large amounts. It works, and has supported more than 165,000 teachers at 43,000 public schools, posted over 300,000 classroom project requests, inspiring $80,000,000 in giving from 400,000 donors who gave more than a million donations.
The DonorsChoose database is full of real information on what teachers and classrooms really need, not guesswork, real data. So, the folks have created a contest for developers and data crunchers to get build tools to figure out what that data tells us and to create apps which do useful stuff with that.
